How Hearts Works
Hearts is a trick-avoidance game for four players. Each heart card taken in a trick is worth one penalty point, and the Queen of Spades is worth thirteen. The player with the lowest score when someone hits 100 points wins the game. The twist: if you collect every single heart and the Queen of Spades in one round, you "shoot the moon" and every other player receives 26 points instead.
Quick Rules
- 1Each player is dealt 13 cards from a standard 52-card deck
- 2Before play, pass 3 cards to another player (direction rotates each round)
- 3Two of clubs leads the first trick — you must follow suit if possible
- 4Hearts cannot be led until broken (played on another suit lead)
- 5Each heart = 1 point, Queen of Spades = 13 points — lowest score wins
